The Play, The Play, It's All About the Play

So tonight's play is loosely based on the movie, "The Mystery Men".You can watch it if you are still confused after you view this blog. But, the movie may confuse you even more. It's up to you.

Before the show, the evil cheerleaders posed in a deceptively friendly group shot.

Captain Amazing shows off all his sponsorship badges.

And here we go....

The play opens with a quiet little birthday party of senior citizens (sorry Nora) who have lots of jewels and stuff.

In come the evil Disco Boys whose music is so bad (not to mention the dancing) that it knocks all the partygoers out.

A crew of hero wannabes arrive to save the day.

They include a mule whisperer with mule, a Blue Raja who throws forks and spoons at bad guys, The Shoveler, Mr. Furious, and Mr. Really Mad. (and some helper-type people)

Despite their best efforts of fork hurling, shoveling and being angry, they are defeated by the Disco Boys who leave them lying on the floor.

Captain Amazing arrives and the Disco Boys flee in terror. He saves the day once again. He is such a hero that he is mobbed by admirers who want his autograph and to take selfies with him. He loves the attention.

While riding in his limo, Captain Amazing decides he needs a villain to fight since he's not getting enough admiration and adoration from the media.

Our heroes, meanwhile, are trying to decide what would make them a more powerful force. Their current talents are not enough.

Now the action begins in Judge Wittman's court where the evil Cassanova Frankenstein is up for his 20th probation hearing. Judge says he will not be released despite pleas from C.F, that he has changed, he is cured and is really a good guy now.

Lance, who is really Captain Amazing (I know, you didn't recognize him in his disguise) shows up and says Captain Amazing believes C.F. and that he should be released. He's really reading from a grocery list, very tricky.

C.F. gathers his evil friends, the Disco Boys,

the Evil Cheerleaders, (lots of evil and dastardly deeds in this play)

and the frat boys, who love to drink root beer and sing crazy songs.

Captain Amazing falls into his trap and gets the gas.

The heroes decide they need more help to become really super, so they hold tryouts.

First one up is Ballerina Man. He is pretty cute, but gets a thumbs down.

Next we have Singing Man, who does a convincing job with "There was an old lady who swallowed a fly", but he doesn't get chosen either.

The judges are attentive, but not convinced.

Finally, The Bowler, who has a bowling ball with the skull of her father inside it, impresses the heroes and she is asked to join.

The Sphinx, a famous mentor, agrees to train the heroes so they will have stronger skills. (and new outfits, which always makes you feel better)

Blue Raja learns to hit his target with his forks.

Mr. Furious learns how to make children cry, an interesting skill to have.

The Shoveler learns which way is up.

The Mule Whisperer even learns how to train his stubborn pet.

The newly trained and costumed heroes now decide they need weapons, so they visit Mr. Heller who gives them a bubble gun, a rope and finally, an applause meter. When the audience claps loud enough, it makes everyone on stage dance until they drop.

They now venture to C.F.'s lair, confront him, dance up a storm with the audience's help, and capture him with the rope. We all live happily ever after, and have ice cream.
