A Beautiful Day for Sailing

Today, a group of campers, their counselors and some folks who don't usually get to go on trips (like doctors and cooks) sailed off from the Black Dog in Vineyard Haven.

Since we couldn't load from the dock (too much boat traffic on a weekend if you can imagine) we made a few trips out on the launch and boarded in the harbor. No campers overboard, yay.

We know how to amuse ourselves while waiting, and it didn't even involve the use of cellphones. How crazy is that?

Some of us were deck fluff, and some were busy putting up the sail and learning how to keep our ropes in order. All of those are important jobs when you're sailing.

James explores below. No stowaways today.

Heave ho! or something like that.

Leslie practices her paparazzi skills. Did she see someone famous? Or infamous.

Sailor Mark joins in the fun.(work)

Moriah steers the ship while James "patiently" waits his turn.

And now it's Captain Richard at the helm.

Learning how to keep the lines aligned.

Another curious fellow.

Practice makes better.

Sam and Chris exchange pirate jokes.

A work of art.

Awwwwww.......

After a trip to the beach, Tony and Drew accepted an ice water challenge in support of research for ALS and put out challenges to others, including Tony's brother and father, (not mother, smart boy) Laura, and Chris.

They have 24 hours to do the same.
