The campers and counselors are very thankful for our kitchen crew, who keep us happy and very full. Patty, Vickie, and Leslie toil in the kitchen from dawn to very dark. Sometimes they get help from guest chefs, like Emma and her father David (below). And then there is the revolving lunch crew who tries to be creative with whatever they find in the cooler. We love our cooks.

This morning, despite yet another downpour, we took a trolley ride around the island with Brian, our local friendly tour guide. He gave us the full tourist treatment and we were dressed for the trip in our spiffy straw hats. We also had our cameras ready in case we saw someone famous or just wanted to blind our fellow campers with a close up with a flash. We rode around for hours, and we don't think we got lost - even once! Thanks Brian for a fun trip.
We spent the afternoon working on the play which is coming up very soon (Yikes!). We also took a little nap since we were worn out from our late night and early trolley adventure.

Last night, we celebrated Chris' birthday and went to the Boston Pops/Neville Brothers concert. It was a beautiful evening, and we stayed out VERY late. We got back with all our campers and clothing and towels so that was a big accomplishment.
Sorry for the grouping of the photos, but the blog and I are not seeing eye to eye on who gets to post photos where, and so far, the blog is winning.

I love the beach

So today we went to church and the beach. The beach is all the pictures we have today so I hope that is what everyone wants. We also went to a music festival where we danced until the wee hours of the night. It was also one of our campers birthdays which meant delicious cake for all. Its getting late so Ill just get to the pictures.

Saturday after breakfast

After breakfast,(see post below) we had a tooth brushing lesson from a group of dental students from Harvard. For the past few years, a small group comes every summer to show us how to brush and floss the teeth of dinosaurs so that we can hopefully be better caretakers of our own teeth. They even bring us free brushes and paste! (We love free stuff) And every year, we promise we'll do a better job so our teeth don't become extinct. Of course, after our lesson we went out for ice cream, but tonight, there will be excellent brushing executed in the cabins before bed. Right ?

We had a scrumptious breakfast on the beach this morning, (thanks Michael, Netza, Drew and Peter - see photo below - somewhere) and enjoyed some time in the brisk water. Not everyone went in (some people don't believe in swimming BEFORE lunch), but all enjoyed the scenery and sound of the waves.

Friday, week 3

This afternoon (morning follows, I can't get the blog in order anymore, and it's driving me nuts) a small group did a fly-by to Menemsha. They visited The Bite, and got free french fries. Gracie met up with her mom, what a nice surprise! They also found Tina (who used to be a day counselor here) who is now a police officer. (Not that we would ask her for any special favors, heh heh.)
A trip up-island would not be complete without a stop at Chilmark Chocolates, for hugs from Alison and Mary Beth, and a few hand picked treats. Sounds like they they treated themselves to a taste-bud extravaganza.

This morning we were busy singing, dancing, acting, potting (? as in pottery),crafting, and painting. And this was all before lunch. We are starting to work on our acts for the play (next Saturday) which will be here too quickly for us camp lovers. The blogger missed the bus for the beach (it happens) so you'll have to wait til tomorrow to see us swimming and floating around and taking it easy. (breakfast on the beach, yum)
